Apparently, #AI and #cosmichorror mix really well for me. I love exploring AI in fact and fiction. Activating my imagination about the good and bad of AI helps me connect to the stories that matter for people. Now, everyone who knows me, knows I'm an optimist when it comes to AI and the future (we have to work for it but I think we [humans] will step up and build a great future). But that doesn't mean it's not fun to explore the darker side a bit. In this story I was thinking about hallucinations and what happens when training data might mix with unknown sources to create something unintentional (bias, yep). Fascinating new blog post from Sam Altman. This is the part that stood out for me: “We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it. I had a really insightful conversation with Aaron Celaya and Rajat Ahluwalia MIET. I’ve seen videos of american google engineers stating project nimbus as the reason behind their resignation. I’ve also seen people saying they can’t quit because of the responsibilities they bear or because they are afraid they don’t find another job. But if we look closely into the numbers we would find that the majority stayed. That’s why I think this is a deep rooted societal problem. How can one sleep at night knowing they contribute to this hell of a genocide? These are not just companies.. these are people.. people who are afraid to speak up or take a stance or organize a strike. People who are happy with the bread crumbs they get from these tech giants in exchange of their time, energy and sometimes health. Capitalism is transforming people into super selfish individualistic beings who can’t even see the long term impact of their actions on future generations. I wrote this to remind you and myself that boycotting is just human… And everyone can find another job… the job market is huge.. trust yourself, your capabilities and adopt a growth mindset where your actions are not based out of fear but of hope and optimism.

If we want our teams to have "AI Skills" we need to get much more specific. What you leaders mean really when they say they want their people to be using AI? Do you want them to know how to prompt? To know their way around all the tools? To work with AI as a co-pilot? All of the above. Sadly all to often I see leaders calling for "AI" skills for their teams but they've done little to grow their own skills and knowledge in this area. For leaders wanting to see Ai enable their organisation, the best way to do it - is to do embrace it yourself. Leadership by example is crucial in any transformation - the same goes here. #AiLeadership #DigitalTransformation

#Google's restructure of its #AI organisations is an interesting move to combine the research and product/commercial elements together under one roof. I wonder how much difference it will make to us consumers of the tech? With the UK public sector, how will members of the public have a consistent experience if each public sector body interprets these principles differently? Those are the 10 principles in the Generative AI Framework for HMG. Principle 1: You know what generative AI is and what its limitations are Principle 2: You use generative AI lawfully, ethically and responsibly Principle 3: You know how to keep generative AI tools secure Principle 4: You have meaningful human control at the right stage Principle 5: You understand how to manage the full generative AI lifecycle Principle 6: You use the right tool for the job Principle 7: You are open and collaborative Principle 8: You work with commercial colleagues from the start Principle 9: You have the skills and expertise needed to build and use generative AI Principle 10: You use these principles alongside your organisation’s policies and have the right assurance in place https://lnkd.in/eDXvWrKf These are largely common sense—they are principles. there goes the weekend! experimentation is hard and takes time but it's worth it. I have paid for a subscription for Gemini awaiting for its talents.. it is slowly emerging as the copilot's in the works suite proving to be very important and extremely useful. more exploration required. this advance is not surprising to me because competition is real and the richest companies in the world that are able to attract both customers and capital are vying for leadership here. in the case of Google it's defense and it is pulling out all the stops to compete with openai and Microsoft. I cannot guess at this time who will win this battle and make the most advanced useful artificial intelligence based on generative technology that will change the productivity levels of small medium and large companies. but it's going to be one of the foundation companies for certain... or it'll be someone waiting on the wings as a fast follower. I don't think that group can emerge without massive capitalization so we'll at least have 12 or 18 months warning if there's a new entrant. #ai #gemini #google #iapredoction thanks for the Post Nigel... Plato’s Cave is an allegory we both struck upon early in our discussions on the immorality and deliberate, inbuilt inaccuracy and self-interest of most LLMs. What you’ve managed to do so eloquently - and thanks for referencing the important research - is describe the difference between lying and bullshitting, which is at the crux of this huge problem we are facing: “… the output of LLMs like ChatGPT can be more accurately described as "bullshit" rather than mere hallucination. In his seminal work "On Bullshit," philosopher Harry Frankfurt delineates the difference between a liar and a bullshitter. The former rejects and opposes the truth, while the latter is utterly indifferent to it.” Perfectly articulated. #kudos
